Home

In 24 hours, I will be back to the US of A. Who would’ve thought this 2 & ½ months would go by so fast. I have learned so much about cultures, people, and myself over the course of this summer and I’m so grateful for the opportunity I have received. You see I started writing this blog about 2 &1/2 months ago and I wrote a whole blog about what Germany did differently than the US and why I THOUGHT IN THE MOMENT that it was better. So in this blog I’m going to come full circle and write all of the things I’m looking forward to when I get back.

11.     Flushing my toilet paper down the toilet- for obvious hygienic reasons. Also because when you accidently forget you can’t put toilet paper in the toilet until the last second before it hits the water leads for a rather awkward experience.
22.     Chlorine in the water – Americans have pretty teeth, now you know why
33.     Drinking the tap water – No more worries about being infected and pooping yourself
44.     Chick-fil-a- idk if you’re not a southerner than you don’t get it either but I’ve craved chick-fil-a for 2&1/2 months now so I’m ready
55.     Driving my car – this one is a little iffy because now I haven’t drove a car for 2 & ½ months so also a little scared because I’m a below-average driver. But my car is pretty (thanks parents) and I have missed it.
66.     My cat – “Winston, your mom is going to squeeze you until you meow really loudly but still softly enough that it isn’t considered animal abuse.”
77.     Keurigs – Because instant coffee sucks dontcha know?
88.     Carrying a purse – “safety first. Leave everything but cash at home so they don’t rob you” – my host mom
99.      Going to the gym – it’s been a long month of just running
110.  Doing stupid flips off the diving board b/c it’s a sport – this is weird for me. Don’t make me take it back Todd ;)
111.  My bed- you know there is nothing better.
112.  Being a little closer to the people I love

The list could go on and on, but the point is I love being an American. I’m so appreciative of all the things that my life has given me, but it took 2 months away for me to really really get that.

I guess is the last post I’ve got for you and my writing career is officially over. (minus my essay, I'm still working on that) It’s been a fun ride. And thank you to everyone who has kept up with me for each and every moment. I don’t think this experience would have been as thought provoking and meaningful if I hadn’t had this opportunity.

And a huge shout out to my Aunt Roberta. The next morning after each blog I’d always get a text about how much she liked it. That always meant a lot. I love you! <3

Also in case you missed it, there were songs associated with most of the blog titles. They are awesome songs. I didn’t listen to much music on this trip (besides shape of you by ed sheran, My host mom loves that song) so these were just the ones I heard in my brain or the ones I was feeling during my time away. Check ‘em out if you get a chance.

See you tomorrow US xx
