Was feeling a little inspired today. Today my family and I walked around Copenhagen and it was the first time since London that I felt like a tourist. Sweden does not attract tourist in the same way Copenhagen does. Also Copenhagen is more accessible for individuals who are traveling Europe and want to see the Scandinavian way of life without going to the true Scandinavian area. Anyways there was tons of people everywhere; lots of english and lots of photo taking.
We walked down to the Copenhagen Food Market and next to it was the Contemporary Copenhagen (museum). Out front there were a bunch of trees with white papers attached to them. I easily blew them off and walked inside the food market to look at the food. On the way out we stopped and it was Yoko Ono's exhibit called the "wish tree garden." Basically everyone can write down a wish and put it in a tree. "Eventually, wishes from all over the world will be gathered together in Ono’s Imagine Peace Tower on the island of Viðey in Kollafjörður Bay, Iceland: an art installation that consists of a tall column of light dedicated to Ono’s late husband, John Lennon. The wishes from CC will join millions of others that have already been collected since 1996 from other places in the world, and will be placed at the Peace Tower." I was just in awe of all of the wishes, some in english, some in other language. The truth was that so many people had wishes. They are ALL people with dreams. WE are all people with dreams It was like the reverse effect of seeing people on the street: they have faces but we have no knowledge of what their wishes are. On these trees there were wishes with no faces.
how would you express your wishes better? What would you do if you would not fail? I've spent a lot of time over this trip thinking about all the things I've done that I've doubted I could do.. and people have doubted I could do. Graduating college is right around the corner and a new page in my life is about to turn. I just want the people in my life to believe in me a little bit. I feel that frequently I hear doubtful and negative comments about things I want to achieve and I believe them.
