I seemed to forget that the whole point of this trip was to go to class, so this return to reality has been a little bit of a pain. I flew into Sweden on Saturday, spent the night in Gothenburg and then took a bus to Jonkoping. It is a beautiful city!! Right on the lake, great outside temperature, cute downtown! It would be a nice place to live. Anyways they have put us up in these like box rooms by ourselves that are so minimal. You have a bed and a desk and a kitchen (kind of) and a shower/toilet room. I'm not going to call it a bathroom because it's not. On another note, my shower doesn't get warm so I feel like I'm back in peru.
The first day here was very lonely because I didn't know anyone, and yesterday was just overwhelming because then I met everyone and it is hard for me to take in 35 new faces and names. Today went a little better. Today is Swedish National Day and it was the perfect day for it! It was beautiful outside and we took the bus as a group down to the city to experience it with the town. Two of my new American friends and I ate at this really great restaurant and then we went back up to the houses. From there I got out a map and decided I was going to go to Ikea, so I walked to Ikea. I found some new shoes and then walked back. By the time I got back some other people from class were coming back from the city. We went on a hike up the mountain behind our accommodation. It is so beautiful there.
Not going to lie, I'm a little overwhelmed by the situation. Public transport is hard and new places are difficult. Hopefully I will start to get the hang of it soon, or at least get into a rhythm because right now I just feel very lost.
Hope everything at home is well!! I know i've only been gone for two weeks but I could go for some chick-fil-a. I went to McDonalds today and got a sundae because I just wanted something that tasted like home.
Miss y'all!
