We arrive in London yesterday and met up with Carl. Yesterday I did not like London. We arrived in 7:25am and then proceeded to cart my bag around all of London actually walking in circles. To make matters worse, the tube is not bag friendly and there are no elevators in the whole place. Finally when we got to the main station to drop off our bags at the bag drop, the system was shut down. From there we got back on the tube (at this point I was getting very angry) and went to the coffee shop that the airb&b owners owned and dropped our bags in lockers. By the time this was over, I did not want to see London but instead go take a nap. We went to the London Bridge and ate some food and checked in to the airb&b right at 3. Once we put all of our stuff down we slept for 2 hours, made dinner, watched "bad moms" (highly recommend), and went back to sleep. Needless to say I went to bed hating London.
Today was a much better day. It's also June which is my favorite month. We woke up and saw the major sights (big ben, buckingham palace, etc) and then went to sit in a park. From there we took the Tube to Soho and found a whole foods. I know I am supposed to be experiencing new European things but DANG do I miss my whole foods. We ate there, got cupcakes and shopped a little.
Tonight we went to Evensong at St. Paul's Cathedral. Evensong is easily one of my favorite services and to experience it in a Cathedral of that size with a Choir like that was just incredible. The most exciting part was that we got to sit in the choir loft to watch the service. I probably could have cried at the elegance and beauty of the service in a space like that.
We are about to go to a bar and then get ready for tomorrow.
Today is Winston's birthday also. He is turning two, so any birthday thoughts or cat treats would of course be appreciated. (he is very missed in Europe rn by me incase you were wondering)
